Symphonic Rock

Symphonic rock is another genre of rock music, and more accurately, progressive rock music. Since early in the history of progressive rock, the term has been used sometimes to distinguish between more classically influenced progressive rock music from the more psychedelic and very experimental offerings.

Symphonic rock can be best described as the combination of rock and classical music traditions. Some symphonic rock artists perform rock arrangements of themes from classical music, or write original pieces in classical composition styles. Others play with the accompaniment of a large scale symphony orchestra or use a synthesizer to emulate orchestral type instruments. The London Symphony Orchestra started their Symphonic Rock project known as Classic Rock or Rock Symphonies without any mixing or synthesized changes.

Please Note: Symphonic Rock is not the orchestral rendition of hit pop Rock and Pop songs by classical orchestras; these may be considered "classical arrangements of contemporary music", though these are at times marketed as "symphonic rock" by various music outlets.
